BOAT MECHANIC
Job Purpose
Love working outdoors & hands on mechanics. Enjoy variety in your working day? We are looking for someone to join our workshop team and are currently recruiting into the position of boat mechanic to work from our HQ in Atherstone. This position is being advertised as a permanent position.
Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
About the role:
This is a physical role and will be based in our workshop, at our wharf (outside) or on site across the UK, and so it’s important that you enjoy all weathers. This role will require a good understanding of diesel combustion engines, electrical systems; 12, 24 & 240V, hydraulic systems and ideally an awareness of boat engineering. It is important that you are comfortable in dealing with the public and are a team player. Good communication and a strong ‘can do’ attitude are essential. You must also have a pragmatic work approach.
Responsibilities:

Manage time to ensure smooth flow of projects and deadlines are met

Attend breakdowns on-site, all-over England/Wales

Quality workmanship and attention to detail
-
Ordering materials/parts in a timely manner

Timely & accurate completion of paperwork
-
Proactive consideration for maintaining H&S & quality standards
Essential:
-
Must have a valid UK driving license as you will be expected to drive company vehicles from time to time

Must be able to use smart phone & apps
-
Must be able to think on your feet

Willing to learn new systems
Desirable:
-
Agricultural/construction engineering experience
-
Mechanical engineering qualification
-
CSCS
-
Able to drive and operate digger (to move into workshop)
-
(NPORS/NVQ/CPCS) (training can be given)
-
Slinger/banksman
-
First Aid trained
-
CAT BE on driving licence
-
Welding/fabrication experience
Salary depending on experience. You will be paid by the hour.
Van & tools will be provided.
Full time working hours, 7am - 5pm with a total of 1hour unpaid breaks throughout the day.
Overtime may be available including weekends.
