WEED BOAT OPERATIVE

Job Purpose

Love working outdoors? Have a love of all things water? We are looking for someone to operate a weed boat based preferably in the East of London. This position is being advertised as a seasonal role for approximately 5 months, however, this may be extended!

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

About the role:

This is a physical role and will be predominantly outdoors, and so it’s important that you enjoy all weathers. The role will require operation of a weed boat, canal locks and changing boat attachments. It is important that you are comfortable in dealing with the public and are a team player. Good communication and a ‘can do’ attitude are essential. You must also have a pragmatic work approach.

Responsibilities:

Operating a weed boat (conver style) in all weathers (no cabin) in the East London area preferably
Reporting in using smart phones and boat intercom systems
Carry out boat checks to ensure the boat is ready and fit for use
Managing disposal operatives including lorry offloads and clearing out hoppers
Use technology to communicate with the office regarding jobs and workload
Representing our company on a highly visible project
Lone working in line with our company lone working policy
Working with the client and volunteers on the project
Liaising with the public
Have a proactive and common sense approach
