Reliable earth anchoring for permanent and temporary applications

Our Platipus Anchor Installation Services

Delivering secure and dependable ground anchoring solutions is essential for projects where stability, load capacity, and long-term performance are critical. The Rothen Group specialise in the installation of Platipus® Earth Anchoring Systems, a pioneering and innovative anchoring solution.

The Rothen Group are licensed and highly experienced in the installation of Platipus® Earth Anchoring Systems. As Platipus Approved Installers, we provide our clients with a comprehensive design and installation solution wherever ground conditions permit. With available tensile loading capacities of up to 44,000 lbs (up to 200kN), these anchors deliver exceptional strength and reliability for both temporary and permanent works.

The Platipus Anchor System is a highly versatile, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant earth anchoring solution. Designed for rapid installation, even in difficult access scenarios, it is suitable for a broad range of applications. These include retaining walls, bridges, sheet piling, erosion control, gabion basket support, drainage and temporary structures. Its adaptability makes it ideal for projects requiring a dependable anchoring system without the constraints of more traditional methods.

One of the key advantages of the Platipus system is its simplicity and efficiency. Installation time is quick, significantly reducing time spent on site compared with alternative anchoring systems, which ultimately leads to both time and cost savings for our clients. The system can be immediately load locked, and a load test report can be provided upon completion, giving assurance of performance and compliance.

Additionally, as no grout or resin is required, there is no curing time needed, further streamlining the installation process. This not only accelerates project delivery but importantly minimises the environmental impact.

FEATURED CASE STUDY

Habitat Creation Coney Meadows, Droitwich

Coney Meadows is part of a nationwide project to restore the UK’s wetlands. Since the 17th century, large areas of reedbeds have been stripped and converted into agricultural land, massively reducing the number of habitats available for wetland animals.

Changing the Shape of the River Derwent, Derby

Following the storm seasons of 2023 & 2024, the EA set out to review its impact on the UK’s waterways. The River Derwent in Derby was flagged after a sonar scan of its navigation identified a scour hole – a direct result of heavy rainfall pushing sediment downstream.

Platipus® Earth Anchors are mechanical anchoring systems designed to provide secure ground stabilisation without the need for concrete. Driven into the soil and load locked into position, they create a strong, reliable anchor point suitable for a wide range of structural and geotechnical applications.

What are Platipus® Earth Anchors?

Platipus® Earth Anchoring Systems offer tensile loading capacities up to 44,000 lbs (up to 200kN), depending on the anchor type and ground conditions. This wide range of load capacities makes them suitable for both light-duty and heavy-duty applications.

How strong are Platipus Anchors?

Yes. Platipus Anchors are suitable for both temporary and permanent installations. Manufactured from corrosion-resistant materials, they are designed to provide long-term performance and durability when correctly specified and installed in appropriate ground conditions.

Are Platipus Anchors suitable for permanent installations?

Platipus Anchors offer faster installation, reduced site disruption, and no need for excavation or concrete. The absence of grout or resin eliminates curing time, helping reduce programme durations and associated costs while minimising environmental impact.

What are the benefits compared to traditional anchoring systems?

Yes. The Rothen Group can provide on-site proof testing and issue a load test report to confirm performance and compliance with project specifications, giving clients full confidence in the anchor’s capacity and long-term reliability.
