Reed and Weed Boat Hire

Control the Growth of Weeds. Protect the Flow of Waterways.

Aquatic Vegetation, Managed the Right Way

Reeds, duckweed, algae, invasive species. Whatever the challenge, our fleet of aquatic vegetation control boats can keep your inland waterways clear and navigable.

There are many different types of aquatic vegetation. Some float on the top, others grow from the bottom, some form thick rafts and others complex root structures or rhizomes. The Rothen Group knows the importance of effective and versatile methods of aquatic vegetation management, preventing overgrowth and disruption of watercourses by native and invasive plant species.

The Rothen Group can operate the reed and weed vessels for you or supply the tools and machines you need to do it yourself. Whatever your setup, we’ll help you manage aquatic growth efficiently and responsibly.

From site surveys and weed cutting to haulage, composting, and disposal, reed and weed clearance is a major undertaking. Our range of weed boats and support vessels is specially designed for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible waterway maintenance.

Our Accreditations

We have a wide range of boats available for weed removal including:

  • Truxor Boats: Amphibious and highly manoeuvrable, Truxor boats are perfect for cutting, collecting, and managing aquatic vegetation in shallow or narrow sites. A go-to for reed and weed removal in sensitive environments and plant-heavy sections.

  • Conver Boats: Specialist weed-cutting and collection boats designed for canal and river use. Conver boats combine efficient harvesting with minimal disruption to wildlife and infrastructure - ideal for dense floating or submerged growth.

  • Paddle Boats: Compact and paddle-powered, these boats are suitable for shallow water and heavy weed situations. Paddle boats collect floating debris using a variety of interchangeable cutting heads and rakes.

  • Harvester Boat: Perfect for clearing duckweed from sections of canals and rivers. It uses a conveyor belt and storage system to continuously remove floating weeds from the waterway.

  • Crane Boats: Ideal for bulk lifting of cut vegetation, root balls, or debris. Crane boats support weed removal and bank management works where heavy materials need to be moved safely.

  • Long Reach Excavator: Not a boat, but often used alongside them. Our long reach excavators are fitted with weed rakes or buckets to handle tough submerged growth and root structures from bank or floating platform. Ideal for deep, hard-to-reach vegetation.
