Job Purpose

<p class="font_8">Love working outdoors? Have a love of all things water? We are looking for someone to move our boats across the country within the canal network and are currently recruiting into the position of Helmsman based at our HQ at Mancetter Wharf, Mancetter.&nbsp; This position is being advertised as a permanent position.</p>

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone to move our boats across the country within the canal network and are currently recruiting into the position of Helmsman based at our HQ at Mancetter Wharf, Mancetter.&nbsp; This position is being advertised as a permanent position.</p>

Responsibilities

  • Working in and around our canals transporting boats from one location to another

  • Operating locks up and down the canal

  • Carry out boat checks to ensure the boat is ready and fit for use

  • Use technology to communicate with the office regarding jobs and workload

  • Representing our company whilst interacting with visitors to the canal and volunteer groups

  • Lone working in line with our company lone working policy

  • Operating our boats for clients across the country on a range of civil engineering projects

Desirable

  • Helmsman License

  • CSCS card

  • First Aid Trained

Essential

  • Must have a valid UK driving licence as you will be expected to drive company vehicles

  • Experience of moving & operating canal boats

Benefits

Summary

Salary depending on experience. You will be paid by the hour.

Full time working hours, 7am - 5pm with a total of 1 hour unpaid breaks throughout the day.

Overtime may be available including weekends.
